Overview

The UQ School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences is a leading educator in audiology and has state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. It is the only provider of this qualification in Queensland. Staff have expertise across a wide range of clinical and academic disciplines.

When you study audiology at the University of Queensland, you will learn from experienced audiology educators and researchers who are specialists in areas including neuroscience and rehabilitation, ageing, participation, and disability.

As a UQ audiology student, you will have access to technologically cutting-edge clinical laboratories and become skilled in the use of state-of-the-art audiological equipment, which will help to make you a world-class practitioner.

Program

The University of Queensland Master of Audiology Studies program will allow you to acquire the scientific expertise and fundamental clinical skills required to become a professional audiologist.

You will study research-focused courses that explore the evidence-based practice of audiology, clinical reasoning and health research. You will also complete your own research in clinical audiology.

Clinical Placements
As an audiology student, you will undertake more than 250 hours of supervised clinical practice in a range of clinical settings that includes hospitals, private practices, educational facilities and UQ’s internal clinics. During your placements, you will have the opportunity to apply your theoretical knowledge acquired through coursework and research to practice and develop your clinical skills in real-life settings.

Important Information for Ontario Residents
It’s your responsibility to know the required audiology (major) and speech pathology (minor) hours to practice in your province.

The College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CALSPO) has updated their assessment of graduates of international audiology/speech pathology programs. As such, UQ’s Master of Audiology Studies no longer provides adequate coverage of the course material for students who plan to live and work in Ontario.

Please reach out to OzTREKK’s Physiotherapy Admissions Officer for information about how to meet these requirements.

Admission Requirements

Completed bachelor’s degree
You must have a completed undergraduate degree (related discipline preferred) from a recognized university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0/4.0 (approximately 65% +).

Please note the above criteria are minimum requirements. Entry is competitive and the selection process is based on GPA.

Admission Timeline

*While the application deadline is generally the end of November, offers are made throughout the year based on academic merit and subject to availability in the program. You are encouraged to apply as early as possible as this program can fill quickly.

“… you really get to know your profs and the upper years”

I love it. UQ is a great school, great location and a beautiful campus. My program is great because the size is so small, you really get to know your profs and the upper years. Everyone is very approachable and are happy to help.
