The majority of Canadians wishing to become teachers
first complete a Bachelor degree and then undertake a graduate-entry, professional†teacher education program that allows graduates to gain certification
as a teacher.
If you have already completed a
Bachelor degree and wish to become a teacher, please visit OzTREKK's Graduate-entry
Teacher Education web page.
If you have not yet completed a Bachelor
degree, you may be interested in studying to be a teacher at the undergraduate
level, which generally involves a minimum of four years of study in a Bachelor
of Education program.
OzTREKK's Australian universities offer reputable Teacher Education programs, providing our students with a unique and enriching education which allows for an easy transition into the teaching profession within Canada.
At some Canadian universities, students are able to complete concurrent Education programs at the undergraduate level. These Bachelor of Education programs allow students entering university from high school to gain the qualifications to become a teacher through a five-year degree. Commonly, these undergraduate Bachelor of Education programs are combined with another degree, such as a Bachelor of Arts.
Australian universities offer similar Bachelor of
Education programs at the undergraduate level. In Australia, professional
degrees are normally undertaken straight from high school at the undergraduate
level. Bachelor of Education degrees in Australia are normally four years in
duration, and suitable to those students who wish to gain entry into a Teacher
Education program directly from high school.
Australian universities also
offer teacher education programs designed for students who have already
completed a Bachelor degree. These†names of these graduate-entry
degrees†differ depending on the university, and are usually referred to as
Graduate Diploma of Education, Postgraduate Diploma of Education, or Master of
Teaching programs. If you have already completed a Bachelor degree and wish to
become a teacher, please visit OzTREKK's Graduate-entry
Teacher Education web page.
