Nurses provide valued services to their communities in the provision of health care and the promotion of health and well-being. This degree provides a broad educational foundation for general nursing practice and pathways to future professional employment. It allows students to develop a diverse range of skills in communication, research, clinical reasoning, client care, and judgement. Students also gain clinical experience in a wide variety of health agencies throughout Victoria, Australia and overseas. Graduates will be eligible for registration as registered nurses with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
Monash offers a medium-sized school of nursing with a wide range of ages, cultures and backgrounds within its student body that allows for multiple perspectives to be explored during the program and is undertaken in an environment that fosters individual and group development.
Monash has a strong history of involvement with, and support of, international students. The campuses on which the nursing course is undertaken are compact with smaller student numbers, so close interaction with staff and students is facilitated. Each year, a number of international students choose Monash nursing and this enables peer support and involvement by this group of students. The course offers an opportunity to undertake nursing studies in Australia in a supported environment.
Successful completion of the course will lead to eligibility for registration as a registered nurse (Division 1) with The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
Graduates from Canada who wish to practice as a registered nurse upon their return to Canada should be aware of the certification process for foreign-trained nurses in their province of
residence. For information about Canadian certification processes for foreign-trained registered nurses, please visit
