Civil, structural and geotechnical engineering

Our mechanical engineering program offers you a broad foundation in all aspects of mechanical design: mechanics, power, control, and manufacturing. Students gain a strong theoretical knowledge base with extensive practical experience through field trips, machine designs, industry placements, guest lectures, and project design and management.
Mechatronic engineering is based on elements of mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering and computer science, but is a distinct discipline in its own right. The mechatronics program at Griffith gives students insight into mechanical and electronic engineering as well as computer science as they work toward developing exciting new autonomous and robotic technologies.
Software engineering is the design and implementation of the software systems on which our society depends; from buildings to biotechnology, games to government, and sports to submarines. As team work is essential for professional software engineers our program focuses on group project work in developing software, from initial ideas through development to finished products for external clients. Information technology and computing
Griffith delivers a theoretical knowledge foundation upon which students can build practical industry ready experiences. In the final year, students will work in a team on a project for an external client. Incorporating work-integrated learning, often off campus, gives you first-hand experience in the knowledge, skills and attitudes that are required to succeed within the industry.
Business information systems and IT management
Business information systems is an area that explores how information is created, transformed and used in organisations. This includes studying how information and communication technology supports business processes by collecting, storing, processing and presenting data. IT management and marketing programs provide students with the necessary IT skills, while allowing students to expand their knowledge of the business environment in which these skills will be applied.
Multimedia design and interactive media
This major introduces students to the fundamentals of communicating through design. It gives students both a practical and theoretical understanding of the use of the computer as a tool for problem solving and creating artwork. You will learn about typography, pre-press and the reproduction processes, and the methods used to create computer artwork. As a visual communication design student at Griffith University you will gain the creative and technical skills to create powerful graphic designs, illustrations and advertisements. Core courses include digital design graphics, typographic design, digital print design and visual communication design.
