Universities in Australia name their graduate-entry education/teaching degrees in various ways (e.g. Graduate Diploma of Education, Postgraduate Diploma in Education, Master of Teaching). These are comparable to graduate-entry Bachelor of Education degrees offered at universities in Canada.

Canadian students should note that these programs train students to become teachers. Individuals looking to complete a Master of Education degree must first complete a Teacher Education program. They may then apply to a Master of Education program to further their educational studies and prepare them for managerial/ administrative careers in the field of Education.

Individuals, who are already certified as teachers and wish to complete their Master of Education degree, may contact OzTREKK to request information and guidance about Australian university Master of Education programs.

Teaching qualifications open up a world of new and rewarding opportunities for university-qualified professionals. Built on extensive consultation with principals and staff in independent and state schools, the Master of Educational Practice and the Postgraduate Diploma of Education at Bond University meet the challenge of staying on the cutting edge of new and innovative trends in education.

The Master of Educational Practice and the Postgraduate Diploma of Education programs, taken at either the Primary or Secondary level, provide students with the skills and qualifications needed to teach either kindergarten through Grade 6 or Grades 7-12.

The Postgraduate Diploma of Education program is a standard teacher education program, similar to the one-year Bachelor of Education programs provided at Canadian universities. The Master of Educational Practice contains the same course content as the Postgraduate Diploma of Education in the first two semesters, and includes a third semester of further courses, research and practicum opportunities.

Unique Features of the Program

Bond University offers three semester intakes each year. Because of this, students have the option to begin their program earlier than their colleagues attending other universities, gaining a head start in their teaching careers.

Bond's Teacher Education programs create a supportive environment for students through the establishment of a small student to staff ratio. The small class size creates the opportunity to take students on field trips to schools and other educational sites, which are often unavailable to students in large cohorts at other universities.

Why Canadians Like the Program

Canadians love the Teacher Education programs at Bond University, because they are always able to receive one-on-one contact with faculty members through their small classroom setting and open-door policy.
