Universities in Australia name their graduate-entry education/teaching degrees in various ways (e.g. Graduate Diploma of Education, Postgraduate Diploma in Education, Master of Teaching). These are comparable to graduate-entry Bachelor of Education degrees offered at universities in Canada.
Canadian students should note that these programs train students to become teachers. Individuals looking to complete a Master of Education degree must first complete a Teacher Education program. They may then apply to a Master of Education program to further their educational studies and prepare them for managerial/ administrative careers in the field of Education.
Individuals, who are already certified as teachers and wish to complete their Master of Education degree, may contact OzTREKK to request information and guidance about Australian university Master of Education programs.

Teaching qualifications open up a world of new and rewarding opportunities for university-qualified professionals. Built on extensive consultation with principals and staff in independent and state schools, the Master of Educational Practice and the Postgraduate Diploma of Education at Bond University meet the challenge of staying on the cutting edge of new and innovative trends in education.
The Master of Educational Practice and the Postgraduate Diploma of Education programs, taken at either the Primary or Secondary level, provide students with the skills and qualifications needed to teach either kindergarten through Grade 6 or Grades 7-12.
The Postgraduate Diploma of Education program is a standard teacher education program, similar to the one-year Bachelor of Education programs provided at Canadian universities. The Master of Educational Practice contains the same course content as the Postgraduate Diploma of Education in the first two semesters, and includes a third semester of further courses, research and practicum opportunities.
Bond University offers three semester intakes each year. Because of this, students have the option to begin their program earlier than their colleagues attending other universities, gaining a head start in their teaching careers.
Bond's Teacher Education programs create a supportive environment for students through the establishment of a small student to staff ratio. The small class size creates the opportunity to take students on field trips to schools and other educational sites, which are often unavailable to students in large cohorts at other universities.
Canadians love the Teacher Education programs at Bond University, because they are always able to receive one-on-one contact with faculty members through their small classroom setting and open-door policy.
Bond University is located on Queensland's Gold Coast, which is world renowned for its magnificent beaches and waterways, national parks, rainforests and mountain ranges. It has a perfect climate of mild winters and warm summers and is safe, clean and beautiful.
The Master of Educational Practice and the Postgraduate Diploma of Education, offered at Bond University, are accredited by the Queensland College of Teachers. With these qualifications, students are also eligible to apply for teacher certification in Canada.
For students wishing to teach at the Primary level, Bond University would also like to see that you have undertaken courses in a couple of different disciplines within your undergraduate degree, as primary teachers must have general knowledge in several different subjects.
For students wishing to teach at the Secondary level, applicants must also meet the requirements for two teaching methods. The university is generally looking for four to five full credits in a first method and another three to four full credits in a second method. For example, if one would like English as a first teaching method and History as a second, they would be required to have completed five full credits in English and four full credits in History within their undergraduate degree.
you must submit your Bond application directly to the OzTREKK office.
When your application is complete, OzTREKK will immediately submit it electronically to Bond University's International Admissions Office. OzTREKK will also notify you that your application has been submitted.

Graduate Diploma of Education (Primary)
The Graduate Diploma of Education (Primary) at Monash University is a one-year course, for those who already have an undergraduate degree and want to qualify as teachers of kindergarten through Grade Six.
The Graduate Diploma of Education (Primary) program is perfect for people with a strong interest in working with primary-aged children from the ages of five to 12 years, and is structured around on-campus classes and teaching practicum placements. The program consists of 10 units, which is equivalent to 1.25 years of study, but is completed in one calendar year.
Studies consist of workshops and lectures, with approximately 20 contact hours per week. Students also develop a broad conceptual understanding of the field of education, and engage as active participants in both classes and teaching practicum placements.
Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary)
The Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) program is a one-year course for those who already have an undergraduate degree and who want to qualify as teachers of Grades 7 through 12.
For people who want to become secondary teachers, this course combines academic studies of the foundations of education, with units appropriate to a student's specific teaching methods. Students will complete eight units in total, including four foundation units. Supervised teaching practicum placements (a minimum of 45 days) and a student's teaching methods are conducted in blocks.
The Graduate Diploma of Education (Primary) program at Monash University eases students into their practicum placement by providing a 10-day placement at the beginning of their course, allowing students to gain the confidence they need before entering the three-week practicum placement at the end of their semester.
Monash's Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) program places an emphasis on small group organization within their practicum placements, creating a supportive environment which helps students develop the confidence they need in a classroom setting.
The programs are also catered to students who do not have prior knowledge of theories in Education, slowly adding to their knowledge base of these concepts.
Canadian students enjoy the program's practicum placement component. The University tries to make students as comfortable as possible. For example, in the past years the university has placed groups of students in the same Primary school, creating a supportive learning environment for students.
Another perk of attending Monash University is that its campuses are in and around the city of Melbourne. Melbourne is the capital of the state of Victoria and is also its most cosmopolitan city. So any type of entertainment or activity is just around the corner.
