Join the upcoming Newcastle Law School “Canadian Experience” webinar!

Considering studying law, but not sure where to start? Learn more about the Juris Doctor program at Newcastle Law School from the comfort of your own home on Tuesday, March 7, 2017! The University of Newcastle Law School – A Canadian Experience webinar will also feature former OzTREKK student David Lotimer, who is now practicing law in Ontario.

University of Newcastle Law School – A Canadian Experience

Date: Tuesday, March 7, 2017
Time: 7 – 8 p.m. (Eastern Time)
RSVP: shannon@oztrekk.com

Professor Tim Connor from Newcastle Law School as well as a UON law alumnus will be presenting on the following areas:

  • Studying law at the Newcastle Law School, including their JD/Grad. Dip. of Legal Practice.
  • Returning to Canada to practice – Get a firsthand account from the alumnus!
  • What it is like to be a Canadian studying in Newcastle, Australia

There will be a brief presentation with plenty of time for some Q&As. Both Prof Connor and Newcastle Law alumni Dave Lotimer are down to earth and relaxed, so you can feel free to ask as many questions as you wish! This would be a great opportunity for you to learn more about the program, the accreditation process, and much more.

Why study at Newcastle Law School?

Newcastle’s comparative advantage is that their combined Juris Doctor / Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice is the only fully integrated law degree and practical legal training course offered at an Australian university that is centred on acting for real clients.

Join the upcoming Newcastle Law School Canadian Experience webinar

Former OzTREKK student and Newcastle Law School alumnus Dave Lotimer

As part of the GDLP, students undertake 285 hours of legal professional workplace experience. A minimum of 105 hours of that practical experience is undertaken at the University of Newcastle Legal Centre, under the supervision of the law school’s solicitors. Newcastle Law School staff also assist students to arrange external placements at other law firms to make up the remaining 180 professional training hours. This is very attractive to potential employers and gives Newcastle graduates a significant advantage over graduates from other universities whose only practical experience has involved simulated client advice sessions, rather than providing advice and other legal assistance to real clients.

Did you know that the city of Newcastle is also a great place to live? Yep, it was recently included in National Geographic’s global list of “Smart Cities.”

Program: Juris Doctor / Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice
Location: Newcastle (Callaghan)
Duration: 3 years
Semester intake: February
Application deadline: Candidates are encouraged to apply at least three months prior to the program’s start date.

Entry Requirements

Entry to the program is available to students that have successfully completed a 3-year bachelor degree in any discipline other than law, from a recognized institution.

Apply to the University of Newcastle Law School!

About Australian dental schools

In Australia, there are two distinct pathways to studying dentistry, both of which lead you to become a dentist.

Graduate Entry: Some Australian dental schools offer a graduate-entry dental program. This pathway is exactly the same as in Canada, where you first have to complete an undergraduate degree, such as a Bachelor of Science, and then you apply to a four-year dental program.

Undergraduate Entry: Some Australian dental schools allow you to enter into a dental program directly from high school or with a partially completed undergraduate degree. These undergraduate degrees are typically five years.

Five of OzTREKK’s universities offer dental programs:

Griffith University Dental School
James Cook University Dental School
University of Melbourne Dental School
University of Queensland Dental School
University of Sydney Dental School

Get all the details on March 2 at the Australian Dental School Info Session!
